UST, Adamson eye win No. 8

A BIG win the last time out against fancied La Salle should work wonders for University of Santo Tomas.

Whether the Golden Tigresses can sustain their grit will be known when they take on the Ateneo Blue Eagles tomorrow, Saturday, in the 85th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

The match is set at 2 pm. after Adamson tries to get back on track when it collides with also-ran University of the East at noon.

UST will go into the duel on a high, having scored a 24-19, 14-25, 25-18, 25-12 victory over the Lady Spikers last April 2 that raised its mark to 7-3 before the league went into the Holy Week break.

Skipper Eya Laure, Milena Alessandrini, KC Galdones, Imee Hernandez, Cassie Carballo, and Regina Jurado are expected to show the way for the UST belles of coach Kungfu Reyes.

Ateneo is coming off a 25-20, 25-17, 25-22 triumph over University of the Philippines two days ago that enabled the Eagles to stay in the hunt for a Final Four slot with a 4-6 card.

The Eagles will draw strength from Faith Nisperos, Vanie Gandler, and Lyann De Guzman.

The Lady Falcons absorbed a 24-26, 16-25, 22-25 loss to defending champion National University last Wednesday.

Kate Santiago, Trisha Tubu, Lorene Toring, Lucille Almonte, and Ckyle Tagsip will be counted upon by Adamson.

Winless in 10 matches that included a 16-25, 25-18, 23-25, 16-25 defeat to Far Eastern University last April 2, the Lady Warriors will rely on Ja Lana and KC Cepada.
