Borough Lasik Center’s chief executive officer Ches Heredia and chief operating officer Ricky Aranzamendez founded the center some 16 or 17 years ago. The former’s vision was to give quality service while also trying to make eye surgeries and other eye-related procedures more affordable to the public.
Together with their partners, Heredia and Aranzamendez invested in state-of-the-art technology and top-of-the-class equipment and learned the newest techniques to ensure Borough’s services are comparable with other institutions.
The two doctors gave the members of the press and media the perfect view of what Borough is all about. Borough, the center for excellence in the field of eye care, has the most experienced doctors in the industry, provides the best eye care solutions with the latest technology, and offers customer service and patient care that exceeds expectations.
The center offers Lasik, the most commonly performed laser refractive procedure with the fastest results; Presbymax, a laser refractive procedure exclusively offered by Borough that is for the presbyopic age group (from 42 to late 50s); Transepilasik, a surface only no-touch laser refractive procedure in which the eye is not touched by any instrument; PRK, a laser refractive surgery used to treat astigmatism, hyperopia, and myopia; and Premium Eye Implant Surgery, a lens refractive surgery for age-related vision problems using premium intraocular lens implants.
Heredia said they started first with a multi-specialty clinic at a time when the competition was tough, but eventually focused on the eye. From its location at the SM Mall of Asia’s South Wing in 2006, Borough then moved to the mall’s North Wing in 2016, separating the eye clinic from the regular clinic.
The Davao clinic was also opened and warmly welcomed by Davaoenos. “We opened our Davao clinic and it’s doing good. There was no one offering laser eye surgery in Davao that time,” Heredia said. “We’re glad to have partners there in Davao who helped us put up the clinic and make the vision a reality,” Heredia added.
To keep pace with the latest in eye surgery procedures, the doctors regularly attend conventions which are mostly held in Europe. “We try to keep abreast with the latest technologies to keep us updated with our offerings. In fact, we will attend a convention in Europe next month, which will also be an opportunity for us to train,” he said.
Borough believes that people should have access to affordable yet quality eye solutions and services to help them see again in a better light regardless of economic status.
For his part, Aranzamendez said that at Borough, they give a personal touch to their service aside from having a more affordable pricing scheme.
“Many of the doctors here, we’ve been together for the longest time; many of us trained together to become more competent; and more importantly, we all understand the vision of Heredia in making eye-related medical procedures as affordable as possible without sacrificing quality,” Aranzamendez said.
“We’re very happy with where we are despite the pandemic, and we are more excited about where we are going,” Heredia shared.
