‘VLF 18: HITIK’ stages 12 never-before-seen plays

The Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez (CCP Blackbox Theater) opens its curtains to twelve new one-act plays for this year’s Virgin Labfest, slated from June 7 to 25.

Branded “VLF 18: Hitik,” the annual festival of untried, untested and unstaged plays showcases the creativity and collaboration of theater artists as they bring life to the works of the festival’s playwrights.

This year’s edition will have four thematic sets: Adulting 101, REBELasyon, Y.O.L.O., and Muwang.

Three plays are part of Adulting 101: “O,” written by Raymund Barcelon and directed by Missy Maramara; “10 To Midnight” written by Juliene Mendoza and directed by Sarah Facuri; and “Regine: The Fairy Gaymother,” written by Chuck D. Smith and directed by Mark Daniel Dalacat.

The featured plays for REBELasyon are: “Tuloy ang Palabas” written by Layeta Bucoy and directed by Tuxqs Rutaquio; “Ang Awit ng Dalagang Marmol” by Andrew Estacio and directed by Nazer Degayo Salcedo; and “Dominador Gonzales: National Artist” by Dingdong Novenario and directed by George De Jésus III.
