Manila Water Co. Inc. is completing facility enhancements at its Luzon Avenue Treatment Plant (LTP) in Quezon City that will improve environmental protection, operational efficiency and safety and water quality standards reliability.
The company said the P78-million LTP upgrade project has completed the chemical storage room that will ensure compliance with hazardous chemical handling protocols.
The project also completed the installation of an additional train to the ultrafiltration unit 5 that collects accurate data to maintain water safety standards for over 20,000 households in Quezon City.
The LTP facility also maintains environmental protection protocols with the completed installation of the improved bund wall surrounding the chemical enhanced backwash areas and clean-in-place storage tanks to prevent potential spills and leakages.
Manila Water said additional lighting and safety signage were also installed as well as strategically placed eyewash stations, emergency showers and fire extinguishers to improve the facility’s personnel safety and emergency preparedness.
Ongoing additional upgrades, which are expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of the year, include the renovation of the motor control center to streamline operational efficiency, augmentation of security features and construction of an access road to improve traffic flow.
“As Manila Water invests heavily on service improvements for customers, we also take into consideration the conditions of our facilities for our personnel. We believe having a safe and efficient working environment will result in better service to our customers,” Jeric Sevilla, Manila Water corporate communication affairs group director, said in a statement.
