Local renewable energy developer Alternergy Holdings Corp. signed a partnership agreement with Exeter Portofino Holding for the development of a run-of-river hydropower project in the municipalities of Lamut and Asipulo in Ifugao province.
The company said the partnership brings the 6.8 megawatts (MW) project to an advanced stage of development.
The company is expected to issue a notice to proceed to early construction works in the coming months.
The Lamut-Asipulo hydro power project will harness the flow of water from the Cawayan river to generate energy. The project site is within the ancestral domains of the Kalanguya, Ayangan and Tuwali indigenous cultural communities.
The company addedt a memorandum of agreement with the indigenous peoples has been signed and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples en banc has issued the certification precondition. -Jed Macapagal
