The Board of Investments (BOI) yesterday said 115 projects with a total cost of P3.204 trillion have been approved via the Green Lane as of August.
The Green Lanes for strategic investments were established through Executive Order No. 18, approved by the Office of the President in February last year. These Green Lanes are designed to expedite, streamline, and automate the permit and license application processes for strategic investments in the Philippines.
BOI’s latest tally showed 13 projects with an investment cost P210.46 billion were approved the past month, all in renewable energy
These include eight projects valued at P110.72 billion in onshore wind power; four projects in solar, P88.33 billion and one project in offshore wind P11.4 billion.
The biggest projects approved are the P29.2-billion 5876.38 megawatt peak/457.8 megawatt alternating current solar power project in Zambales.
This was followed by the P27-billion 650 MW solar power plant in Pangasinan; the P20.47-billion 193.75-megawatt (MW) wind power project in Negros Oriental; the P19-billion 218 MW wind power project in Rizal.
The other projects are: a 304.056 megawatt direct current/217.184 Mwac solar power plant in Tarlac, P13.97 billion; a 1054 MW wind power project in Agusan del Norte, P12.23 billion; 105.5 MW wind power project also in Agusan del Norte, P12 billion; a 105.7 MW wind power plant in Zambales, P11.99 billion;
There are four wind power projects each costing P11.4 billion and are located in Iloilo, South Cotabato and Guimaras and Nueva Ecija.
Meanwhile, the BOI in a statement said it awarded a Green Lane Certificate to A-FLOW Properties I Corp. (A-FLOW) for its groundbreaking 36MW ML1 data center project.
Trade Undersecretary and BOI managing head Ceferino Rodolfo presented the certificate to Patrick Avila, director of A-FLOW.
A-FLOW is a joint venture between FLOW Digital Infrastructure, an investor, developer, and operator of digital infrastructure in Asia Pacific, and AyalaLand Logistics Holdings Corp., the largest developer of industrial parks and real estate logistics facilities in the Philippines.
Located in Binan City, Laguna, A-FLOW’s ML1 Data Center campus is a greenfield carrier-neutral facility with network diversity and redundancy. It has an initial IT capacity of 6MW and is forecasted to deliver up to 36MW.
Supported by 24/7 backup power, a 24/7 building management system, an on-site manned security system, and an on-demand fire-suppression system, the building is designed in accordance with both local and global standards.
The project will contribute significantly to the Philippines’ supply of digital infrastructure as IT capacity is expected to grow to over 180MW by 2027, driven by strong hyperscale demand.
