FINIS Long Course finals up in Clark

TOP young swimmers take centerstage as they vie for pride and honor representing their provinces in the 2022 FINIS Long Course National Championships on Dec. 17-18 at the New Clark Aquatic Center in Capas, Tarlac.

Medalists and those who surpassed the qualifying time in their respective age-groups Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao will compete in the two-day event organized by FINIS Philippines.

FINIS Managing Director Vince Garcia said that aside from world-class medals, also at stake for exceptional swimmers is a scholarship grant and the chance to be named FINIS brand ambassador.

“We’ve come this far. We saw a lot of potential swimmers during the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao legs, but this time we expect more as the battle goes down to the best of the best,” said Garcia, an active triathlete and “Godfather” to the TODO Paratriathletes team.

With the absence of noted swimmers, among them Jamesrey Ajido, who are competing in the 44th SEA Age Group championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the championships have become wide open.

Ajido four junior records in the Luzon leg last Dec.3 at Clark. The 13-year-old newest FINIS Brand Ambassador broke his own national junior records in the 50-m fly (26.95), 100-m Fly (58.82), 50m back (29.60), and 100-m back (1:03.28).
