‘Nag-enjoy naman ako na magmukhang masungit. – Alden Richards’
Alden Richards
START UP PH” is really special for GMA as they hosted a big press con-preview of the show’s pilot which is quite impressive. It has classy, glossy production values and it’s obvious GMA left no stone unturned for it to match the success of the Korean original. Both Alden and Bea are extremely good looking on screen.
Alden plays Tristan or Good Boy in “Start-Up PH” and some folks are wondering because in the original Korean version, Good Boy is just the second lead as he’s someone who is quite cold and distant, which is far from Alden in real life as he’s always warm and easy going.
“Kaya nga nagustuhan ko kasi it’s something new for me,” he says. “In my past shows, usually, ako ang kawawang-kawawa, naaapi sa simula. Dito sa ‘Start-Up PH’, masungit na agad ang character ko. But I like Good Boy kasi kahit gaano siya ka-cold at mukhang suplado, deep inside, he has a good heart. Nag-enjoy naman ako na magmukhang masungit.”
He quickly qualified that his character is not really a bad guy. “It’s just that meron siyang problem on how to express himself in a more cordial manner kasi ang dami niyang pinagdaanang challenge nung bata pa siya. He finds it hard to express himself kaya hindi siya showy sa emotions niya at nami-misinterpret tuloy siya ng mga tao.”
He adds that in the local version of “Start-Up,” Good Boy will be more lovable. “Mas malalim yung hugot ni Good Boy. Our writers, mas pinalalim nila ang character ni Good Boy rito. Mas nabigyang linaw ang dahilan why Good Boy is behaving that way when he grew up.”

No doubt Viva is the number one entertainment company in the country today. Even if they don’t have any network of their own like ABS-CBN and Star Cinema before, the talents they manage have shows in all the networks.
On streaming, Vivamax is unquestionably numero uno, showing new movies every week and also various mini-series. They have their own exclusive stable of stars and directors who are given regular projects that are sexy and salacious in nature.
On the big screen, they’re the only one brave enough to exhibit their movies in actual cinemas. “Maid in Malacañang” is a big hit and now showing since September 14 is “Expensive Candy” starring Julia Barretto and Carlo Aquino.
Coming up next on September 28 is the romantic drama “Always” based on a Korean hit, with the love team of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim.
And on October 12, they will release the unusual love triangle story, “May-December-January” with Andrea del Rosario playing the lead role. Viva’s intriguing drama, “May-December-January” is about a mother, Andrea, and her gay son, Gold Aceron, who both fall in love for the same guy, Kych Minemoto. So how does it feel doing a lead role again?
“It’s been a while, so feeling virgin uli ako,” she says. “I m so happy na I was given a project like this. I guess it’s the right project at the right time. May love scenes with a younger man, and I told Direk Mac Alejandre, bahala ka na. With his help, nagawa naman namin. Kych is such an amazing actor he helped me, kasi I haven’t done scenes like that for a while.”

Jean Garcia plays a contravida role in the hit action-adventure series, “Lolong,” but she’ll now also be seen on in the new afternoon series, “Nakarehas na Puso,” which will replace “The Fake Life.”
“Nag-abot sa ere ang dalawang shows ko,” she says. “So, sa gabi, kaiinisan nila ako as Donna Banzon in ‘Lolong’, then during the afternoon naman, maaawa sila sa akin sa role ko in ‘Nakarehas na Puso’ na tearjerker talaga.”
In “Nakarehas,” she will play the role of an unfortunate mother named Amelia Galang who is arrested at the airport for allegedly trying to smuggle cocaine to Hongkong, of which she knows nothing about.
Her husband Jack is played by Leandro Baldemor and they have four children: Lea, Miro, Nonoy and Olive. When she is freed from jail, she goes home to discover that her husband now has a new wife, her own friend Doris, played by the comebacking Michelle Aldana, who is best remembered for the Tikoy Aguiluz movie “Segurista.”
The role of Amelia is something new for Jean as she’s used to playing villain roles. “Dito, I’m totally transformed kasi mabait na ina ako na ang hangad lang, mabigyan ng magandang kinabukasan ang mga anak niya,” she says. “Not only that, pinapangit ako rito. Nilagyan ng prosthetic make up ang mukha ko. May malaking balat sa one half ng face ko at pati kilay at noo ko, binago. Tapos, nasunog pa ang mukha ko.”
