Kings take last bus to 3×3 finale

GINEBRA’S late push was rewarded with handsome dividends.

The Kings bumped off the NorthPort Batang Pier in the hunt for the 10th and last slot to the PBA 3×3 Season 3 Second Conference grand finals following their quarterfinal stint in Leg 6.

Outside the cutoff line through five Legs, Ginebra made its big move and wound up sixth in the culminating leg three days ago, good enough to earn 45 tour points and bring its tally over six stops to 173.

This was enough to dislodge erstwhile No. 10 NorthPort, whose 10th place standing in Leg 6 worth 10 points gave it 159 in the final count–14 short of the Kings.

History-chasing TNT, which won all but one of the legs in the mid-season tilt, took its expected spot at No. 1 in the Big Dance with 560 points.

Meralco, with its third place, and Cavitex, with its runner-up finish, gained the second and third seeds at 390 and 365, respectively.

Pioneer Elastoseal secured its position in the “Magic 4” with 356, boosting its bid with a fourth-place finish in Leg 6.

As incentives for ranking in the Top 4, the Katibays along with the Triple Giga, Bolts and Braves will get direct spots in the quarterfinal phase of the conference finale, which is set on Monday, Nov. 27, at Glorietta.
