The Department of Energy (DOE) has encouraged Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) to continuously support the clean transport system by extending their innovation to electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and other EV infrastructure.
DOE also urged MMPC to assist in the development of soft skills on these new technologies.
DOE yesterday signed a memorandum of agreement with MMPC where the latter would lend a unit of plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) to the agency as part of efforts to promote the use of such type of vehicle in the Philippines.
Lotilla said data from the Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry, there are 194 battery electric vehicles (EVs), 19 PHEVs, 30 hybrid EVs and 32 light EVs registered as of last month.
Lotilla added there were also 96 commercial EV charging stations deployed as of December 2023.
