BTr to offer P30B retail bonds

The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) is eyeing to raise at least P30 billion through its retail treasury bonds (RTBs) offer set for auction next week.

In a notice of offering posted on the BTr’s website, the agency said it will issue five-year fixed rate RTBs, which also includes an exchange offer.

The issuance due 2029 will be offered from February 13 to 23, although it may end at an earlier date as determined by the BTr.

The RTBs will have a minimum issue size of P30 billion, and will be sold in minimum denominations of P5,000 and integral multiples thereof.

The BTr is also inviting eligible holders of RTBs set to mature this coming March to submit offers to exchange their bond holdings for the new RTBs.

The issue date for the RTB offer is scheduled on Feb. 28, 2024.

Meanwhile, the BTr fully rejected bids for the reissued five-year treasury bonds during yesterday’s auction.

With a remaining term of four years and 11 months, the average rate for the reissued securities reached 6.219 percent had it been awarded.

The auction attracted P53.4 billion in total tenders relative to the P30 billion offering.
