In a touching event at SOS Children’s Villages, MR.DIY Philippines celebrated motherhood during Women’s Month on March 8, 2024. The goal was to honor SOS mothers who lovingly care for children, no matter their backgrounds or challenges.
Charles Salecina, Deputy Head of Marketing at MR.DIY, said, “Working with SOS Children’s Villages lets us celebrate the amazing work of SOS mothers who devote themselves to children. We hope to inspire kindness and positive actions in communities through initiatives like this.”
At the event, MR.DIY staff became “Uncles and Aunties for a day,” helping children make Mother’s Day gifts with MR.DIY’s arts and crafts supplies. Thirty volunteers joined in, sparking creativity and forming connections through crafting.
Andrea Celica Santos, Corporate Relations Coordinator at SOS Children’s Villages Philippines, said, “Partnering with MR.DIY gave our children a chance to show creativity and thankfulness to their SOS mothers. It’s heartening to see the love and joy in each handmade card, reflecting the strong bond between children and their SOS families.”
The highlight was making Mother’s Day cards, each with a special message of love and gratitude. Children put their hearts into designing these cards, showing appreciation for their SOS mothers who offer a loving home.
The best-designed card received a gift pack from MR.DIY, adding extra joy to the day. This gesture honored the children’s talents and symbolized the bond between SOS mothers and children.
