THE Asean Para Sports Federation, in a virtual meeting last Tuesday, agreed to bid the hosting of the 2021 Asean Para Games after Vietnam backed out in staging the regional event for para-athletes that was originally scheduled to be held in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi this month.
“In a virtual emergency meeting attended by nine countries, the majority of the BoG (Board of Governors) voted to open the bid to any member nations interested in hosting the 11th APG 2021,” the federation said in a statement.
The federation added that it would meet again on Jan. 14, 2022 “to make its final decision on the matter.”
The federation added the present board would remain until a new election was held in Solo, Indonesia, which has made a bid to stage the regional sportsfest in 2022.
