WITH Perlas having disbanded, middle blocker Jules Samonte and outside hitter Heather Guino-o have found a new home.
The two spikers have signed with the PLDT Home Fibr for the 2022 Premier Volleyball League season.
“I’m really grateful kasi biglaan lang din na-disband iyong Perlas,” Samonte said.
“Akala ko, I was going to be with them for another year pa. It was unfortunate na na-disband iyong Perlas but just grateful to have found a home in PLDT,” she added.
The 5-foot-7 Guino-o, 24, played for the Spikers in the last two seasons, while the 5-foot-9 Samonte, 23, suited up for Perlas late last year during the PNVF Champions League.
Unlike at Perlas where she had fellow former Lady Eagles such as Jho Maraguinot and Mich Morente to guide her, Maraguinot will be her only teammate with the High Speed Hitters.
PLDT retained Rhea Dimaculangan, Chin Basas, Eli Soyud, and Nieza Viray from last season, while getting Kath Arado, Jessey De Leon, Mean Mendrez, Dell Palomata, Jovie Prado, Wendy Semana, Fiola Ceballos, and Lhara Clavano.
The team also tapped George Pascua to be its new coach, replacing Roger Gorayeb.
A former UAAP Rookie of the Year, Samonte said it is both exciting and nerve-wracking to be with her new team.
