‘Premanda’ love team

Veteran actors Sen. Lito Lapid and Lorna Tolentino set tongues wagging with their unexpected kissing scene on primetime in Kapamilya’s “Batang Quiapo.” The positive response from viewers of the hit show paved the way for the birth of a new love team – “Premanda” – featuring their “Batang Quiapo” characters, Supremo and Amanda.

Senator Lapid addressed the buzz around the scene during his press thanksgiving at Max’s Restaurant on Tuazon last Tuesday. He humorously remarked, “Single naman sya ngayon,” referring to the multi-awarded Lorna. This collaboration marked the first time Lapid and Tolentino worked together.

Beyond the memorable kiss, Lapid earned acclaim for his daring in various action scenes. Explaining his approach, he said, “Kasi kailangan [sa eksena],” highlighting his stuntman background. He emphasized, “Kahit nung nag-umpisa ako, ‘di ako nagpapa-double.”

The 68-year-old actor-politician acknowledged the need for precautions in his age. “Medyo umiilag na rin ako, syempre may edad na rin,” he shared. Citing the unfortunate incident involving the late Eddie Garcia, he added, “Sinasabi [baka] ma-Eddie Garcia ako, kaya nag-iingat rin.”

“I-naawat na nga ako,” he revealed, emphasizing his commitment to safety. Despite his age, Lapid maintains an active lifestyle and adheres to a healthy diet. He attributes his strength and agility to this lifestyle, asserting that he aims to show fellow seniors that with training and preparation, they can still be active.

“Titingnan ako ng senior citizens kung kakayanin pa nila. Pag wala akong ginagawa, nag-eensayo ako. Tsaka sa pagkain, nag-iingat din,” he concluded, underlining the importance of dedication to physical well-being and the pursuit of passion, regardless of age.
