Paul Soriano returns to showbiz with ‘The Fisher’

Award-winning director Paul Soriano is making waves with his latest film, “The Fisher.”

“The Fisher” took center stage at the recently concluded Tokyo International Film Festival, earning acclaim for its compelling storytelling and cinematic excellence. Following his resignation as Malacañang’s presidential adviser on Creative Communications in July 2023, Soriano has seamlessly transitioned from his brief stint in government service back to his roots in filmmaking.

While on leave, Direk Paul devoted his time to his family, particularly supporting his wife Toni Gonzaga, whose pregnancy faced delays. He also played a role in Toni’s popular vlog, “Toni Talks,” conducting interviews that garnered millions of views, including the controversial siblings Papi and Paye Galang.

While reports circulated about strained relations with President Bongbong Marcos and First Lady Lisa Marcos, a source emphasized that there is no animosity between Soriano and the Marcos family, highlighting open communication and unaffected familial ties. Recent public appearances, such as their joint attendance at the inauguration of a dialysis center, reinforce the narrative of a harmonious relationship.

Soriano remains tight-lipped about recent events but expresses optimism about an upcoming significant project, promising more details when the time is appropriate. He envisions contributing to the recovery of the entertainment industry, although specific plans remain undisclosed.

Acknowledging the fulfillment derived from his government role, Soriano’s natural inclination toward privacy and focus on creative pursuits led him back to the private sector. He aims to leverage his experience in directing and content creation for future endeavors. Toni, meanwhile, is reportedly working on projects that could benefit from his involvement.
