New cases still below 2K for 5th day

LESS than 2,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were reported for the fifth straight day by the Department of Health yesterday but there were 128 more deaths.

In its latest bulletin, the DOH said total infections in the country rose to 2,818,511 counting the 1,547 new cases yesterday while the death toll climbed to 45,709 for a case fatality rate of 1.62.

The positivity rate in the country stood at 4.1 percent out of the 39,147 tests conducted last November 13.

Active cases dipped slightly to 27,025 from 28,102 last Sunday, with 61 percent mild cases, 17.5 percent moderate cases, 10.8 percent severe cases, 5.9 percent asymptomatic cases, and 4.6 percent critical cases.

The DOH also reported 2,601 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 2,745,777. This means that 97.4 percent of COVID patients in the country have recovered.
