MBC evolves and rebrands

For 85 years since its inception in 1939 alongside KZRH (now DZRH), MBC has demonstrated a consistent ability to adapt to the evolving preferences of the Filipino audience. Over time, the company has evolved from a solely broadcast-focused entity to a multifaceted business, owing to strategic expansions in its channels and services.

In response to the swiftly changing media landscape, MBC has undertaken a rebranding effort, signaling a fresh perspective and readiness to navigate the dynamic terrain of the country’s media sector.

The unveiling of MBC’s new brand identity as MBC Media Group, accompanied by a contemporary logo illustrating fluidity, marks the dawn of a new era for the broadcasting giant. The logo’s design, featuring six ellipses representing the company’s six Strategic Business Units (radio, TV, promotions, talents, events, and digital), pays homage to its legacy while signifying a broader reach and adaptability to present and future demands.

To mark this landmark change, MBC hosted an event at the Aliw Theater in Pasay City  last Tuesday, February 6. The gathering brought together MBC officers and employees, clients, advertisers, industry partners to witness the unveiling of the corporation’s new identity. MBC Media Group Chairman Fred J. Elizalde and his wife, Artistic Director and CEO of Ballet Manila, Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, were in attendance.

Assistant Vice President – Digital Media Sasha Elizalde-Del Rosario emphasized the strategic significance of the rebrand, highlighting its transformative nature and the potential it holds for the company’s future growth.

Senior Vice President-Operations Juan Elizalde, meanwhile, outlined the company’s six new strategic business units and expansion plans.

MBC Media Group president and current chairman of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), Jun Nicdao, talked about how the transition will impact the company’s stakeholders, emphasizing the enhanced media platforms and services available to partners and audiences alike.

Key officers were present during the launch: representing MBC Radio are Atty. Rudolph Jularbal (Station Manager-DZRH), Jonathan Decena (VP-Radyo Natin), and Johnny “Ivan” Quiling (AVP-FM Operations and Programming), who also currently leads the MBC Events unit; Christian Dela Cruz (Chief Digital Officer), Jeffrey Joe Pe-Aguirre (Director-Digital Media for AM Network) and Riere Lavarez (Manager-Digital Media for FM Network) for MBC Digital; Rita Salonga ( Head of TV Production) for MBC TV; Irving Lisondra (VP-Ad & Promo) and John Carl Galang (Director-Ad & Promo) for MBC Promos; and heading MBC Talents is Vince Jaen, also functioning as the company’s AVP for Integrated Media.
