THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) will open a two-day procurement summit beginning today at the Diamond Hotel Philippines in Manila to enhance its public bidding processes.
In a statement, the Commission said it has set the first Comelec Procurement Summit from July 17 to 18 and has invited all prospective old and new suppliers, service providers, consultants, and contractors to participate.
“(This is) in the interest of ensuring transparency and accountability and access of private sectors in the bidding opportunities of the Commission,” said the Comelec.
“(It aims) to strengthen the link between the bidders and the procurement process,” it also said.
The poll body said topics for discussion during the summit include general principles in government procurement, market analysis, participation in bidding activities, contract performance, and other procurement-related matters.
The Comelec stressed that participation in the event is free.
The summit was originally set from June 29 to 30. It was, however, pushed back as the Comelec needed more time to prepare and conceptualize a more comprehensive program.
