A BOMB expert of the terrorist group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) has been nabbed by government troops in Cotabato City, the military reported last Sunday night.
The Army’s 6th Infantry Division (ID) based in Maguindanao named the suspect as Kuntong Basilan, who carries the aliases Tong Basilan and Michael Basilan.
Basilan was nabbed by troops from the Army’s 90th and 34th infantry battalions, augmented by police units, last Friday afternoon at the vicinity of Cotabato Regional Medical Center in Barangay Rosary Heights 10 in Cotabato City.
He has standing arrest warrants for double murder and arson pending before a local court.
The 6th ID said Basilan is a known bomb expert and right-hand man of BIFF founding leader Ameril Umbra Kato, who the military said died of a heart attack in 2015.
He is also said to be the triggerman of a BIFF leader, one commander Paradise.
