NEW coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases dipped slightly to 18,937 yesterday from 19,271 last Sunday while 146 more died due to the deadly virus, according to the Department of Health.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said five laboratories failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
Overall, the number of infections in the country rose to 2,385,616 while the toll climbed to 36,934 for a case fatality rate of 1.55.
The DOH said the positivity rate stood at 26.3 percent among 72,770 tested individuals nationwide last September 18.
Active cases also lowered slightly to 176,850 from 178,196, with 92.7 percent mild cases, 2.7 percent asymptomatic cases, 2.6 percent moderate cases, 1.4 percent severe cases, and 0.6 percent critical cases
The DOH also reported 20,171 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 2,171,832.
Forty-one more Filipinos abroad have been infected with COVID-19 while three others succumbed to the virus last week, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
This brought to 23,156 the total number of overseas Filipinos who have contracted the virus while the death toll rose to 1,385. — With Ashzel Hachero
