Globe connectivity for 500 NCH frontliners, patients
To help tend to the needs of the National Children’s Hospital (NCH)’s medical frontliners, Globe has given them connectivity support with 50 MyFi devices and an entertainment package with four TV sets and Home Prepaid WiFi (HPW) for the hospital’s pediatric cancer wards.
Additionally, Century Pacific Food Inc., one of the leading branded food companies in the Philippines, shared 500 healthy and nutrient-rich food packages consisting of Century Tuna and Birch Tree Fortified milk for NCH staff and patients.
Ayala Corporation is also donating Php 500,000 to the hospital on top of Globe’s fundraising efforts through GCash.
This is part of the #BrigadangAyala initiative led by Globe, which celebrates the medical community in three Metro Manila COVID-19 hospitals: NCH, Philippine General Hospital, and Tondo Medical Center.
NCH frontliners have been highly dependent on connectivity in carrying out their duties and keeping in touch with their loved ones.
NCH is the leading provider of pediatric care in the country. Recently, aside from providing care to children with critical illnesses, the hospital now also accommodates COVID-19 patients up to 19 years old.

Meralco implements improvements for CND 69 kV — 13.8 kV substation
Meralco recently upgraded its Cruz na Daan (CND) 69 kV — 13.8 kV Substation located in San Rafael, Bulacan by replacing the existing two (2) 10 MVA power transformers with a new 50 MVA transformer. This project will resolve the critical loading of the replaced power transformers, as well as ensure the continuous power supply of the customers served by the said substation even during contingency, preventing possible power outages to many of its customers in the areas of San Rafael, San Ildefonso, and Baliuag in Bulacan.
The newly installed transformer bank will also improve voltage regulation and reduce technical system loss in the area. Despite the continued implementation of community quarantine measures throughout the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Meralco personnel and its subsidiaries are continuously working round the clock to execute major capital projects to “Keep the Lights On”, “Save Lives” and “Keep the Hopes Alive” for its customers.
Kain Tayo Pilipinas to address hunger malnutrition
The private sector, in collaboration with non-government organizations (NGOs) and government partners, has launched KAIN TAYO PILIPINAS, an initiative that invites everyone including the public to help feed more Filipino children and equip families with nutrition information to help alleviate malnutrition especially among children five years and below.
KAIN TAYO PILIPINAS is a flagship program under the Pilipinas Kontra Gutom (PKG) movement, led by private corporations, media, NGOs together with the Department of Education, DOST-FNRI, and the National Nutrition Council. Launched during Nutrition month, this is a new milestone in the journey of the multi-sectoral movement which aims to uplift Filipino lives and help achieve Zero Hunger.
The initiative is a collaboration of NGOS: ABS-CBN Foundation, GMA Kapuso Foundation, Kabisig ng Kalahi, Kusina ng Kalinga, Project Pearls, Rise Against Hunger, World Food Programme Philippines and Philippine Business for Social Progress; private sector companies: Aboitiz, Century Tuna, foodpanda, Grab, Johnson and Johnson, Lazada, McDonald’s, Nestle, PayMaya, SUN Business Network, Unilever, Universal Robina Corporation; media and digital partners: ABS-CBN, Academ-E, Facebook, GCash and GMA and communications and production partners: Publicis Groupe Philippines, Slingshot Manila, Film Pabrika and Greenbulb Communications.
The three-fold approach of feeding, education and collaboration guides the movement in being able to holistically address the issue of hunger and malnutrition in the country.

Bambike, FedEx drive sustainable mobility and tourism
Bambike Revolution Cycles, a socio-ecological enterprise, is expanding to new locations across the country and even abroad. Recently, it rolled out Green Spark Guimaras, offering a novel route to explore the idyllic island. Next stop is in Batangas.
Bambike has also provided a custom fleet of bamboo bicycles to a hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
The company is producing only about 30 units per month because hand-making the bikes is labor-intensive.

Cebu Pacific 1M vaccine doses
Cebu Pacific safely carried another batch of 1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses from Beijing to Manila via flight 5J 671 on July 23.
All these vaccines were kept in temperature-specific refrigerated containers to maintain potency and efficacy up until arrival at the”¯designated”¯stations.
From July 22 to 23, CEB has also delivered around 500,000 Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Gamaleya Sputnik V and Janssen vaccine doses to various provinces from Manila.
CEB has carried over 14 million COVID-19 vaccine doses from China to Manila, and over 4 million doses to 21 provinces to date.

Nationall ID registration in LIMA Exchange
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has teamed up with Aboitiz-owned LIMA Land, Inc. to put up a National ID Registration Center within LIMA Exchange in Malvar, Batangas.
The center is open daily from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. Walk-ins are allowed on a limited basis. COVID-19 protocols are strictly implemented.
Transport pets via 2GO Travel
2Go Travel has launched a service that transports unaccompanied pets from origin to destination.
Pets are especially accommodated in designated areas in all 2GO Travel vessels sailing to over 15 ports of call.
Pet owners can book at least 24 hours before departure date through 2GO Travel’s hotline, in which pet travel agents will communicate the detailed list of requirements needed for the transport.
The shipper must accomplish all forms and documents prior to travel, and provide the pet’s cage according to specification and food for the entire duration of travel.

Shopee also takes the top spot in the YouGov Recommend Top Improvers 2021 in the Philippines, going up from 71.9 in the previous year to 79.5.
Shopee also secured the 7th spot in YouGov’s Best Brands 2020 List in the Philippine, and was named the top improver going up from 32.0 points in 2019 to 39.9 points the following year.
Disaster risk reduction lecture series for teaching community
The Aboitiz Group has reached out to the teaching community to help educate them on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
Aboitiz Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the Aboitiz Group, partnered with City Savings Bank, Pilmico, and Aboitiz Construction to conduct DRR 101 training for public school teachers under the Department of Education (DepEd).
DRR 101 is a two-day virtual training designed to strengthen the culture of preparedness and resiliency for the teachers in different regions across the country.
The lecture series started last June and will run until September this year covering Regions 1, 2, 3, 4-A, 4-B, 5, and 10 and is expected to benefit 1,200 teachers.
The first batch of training sessions kicked off in the Divisions of Lipa and Binan City in Region 4-A and Divisions of Calapan and Oriental Mindoro in Region 4-B where more than 90 educators and DRR coordinators participated.
