Gabby made ‘First Yaya’ memorable for Sanya

SANYA Lopez is sad that “First Yaya” is ending this Friday. Fans of the show request GMA-7 to give it an extension or a Book 2.

“Ako rin po, sobrang mami-miss ko ang ‘First Yaya’ at lahat ng mga kasama ko rito, both my co-stars and all the staff and crew,” says Sanya. “I made a lot of new friends and now, we’re not only friends but also family as we feel so close to each other. ‘First Yaya’ will always be very memorable for me as this is my first title role. And also, being paired with Kuya Gabby Concepcion is truly an honor and a privilege. Ang laki ng naitulong niya sa’kin in ‘First Yaya.’ He helped boost my confidence that I can do my role well, specially in our scenes together. He’s so easy to work with and I’m really happy that the viewers supported our show.”

“First Yaya” started showing on GMA and other Kapuso channels worldwide on March 15, and since then, it, has won the hearts of audiences not only in the Philippines but also those living overseas who watch it on GMA Pinoy TV. Viewers say they enjoyed following the journey of Sanya as Yaya Melody, an overseas worker who works as chambermaid in the Middle East.

It’s not only the viewers who are happy for Sanya but also her co-stars who cheered her for the huge success of “First Yaya” as it became the highest rating show on TV. One of them is Cassy Legaspi, the daughter of Carmina Villaroel and Zoren Legaspi who plays Nina, Gabby’s eldest child.

“I enjoyed working with Ate Sanya and I’m glad siya ang una kong nakatrabaho in my very first teleserye,” says Cassy, “It was truly a good way to start my acting career. I also want to thank GMA-7 for believing in me and giving me this role. To all my co-stars in the show, thank you very much for welcoming me with open arms. Love na love ko kayong lahat and I will never forget our show and our family. I feel so happy and blessed to have met you all. And to Ate Sanya, here’s hoping we can get to work with each other again someday.”

Luis Manzano has been chosen by Santé International as their endorser of Sweet Via, a sweetener from natural sources and plant ingredients.

“I just turned 40 this year and, as we grow older, we should be more careful with what we eat,” says Luis. “I know people get diabetes either genetically or because of their food choices. Me, I’m really into sweets. I love dessert and ice cream. You know, I gained weight during this pandemic. Even my stylists, nahihiya pa sila sa’kin, but they have to tell me to lose weight kasi it doesn’t look good on TV. Calorie deficit is the answer to losing weight.

Because of Sweet Via, I now have a healthy alternative that enables me to satisfy my cravings without getting diabetes. Dahil sa Sweet Via, nakikita ko na ulit ‘yung baba ko, kaya sobrang okay talaga siya for me kasi even other people notice na pumapayat na uli ako.”

He and wife Jessy Mendiola have been married since February but they only revealed it last April. So how is married life so far?

“You know, it sounds superficial, but just wearing this wedding ring is already so sweet for me,” was his short but very meaningful answer, indicating he really enjoys being married.

So why did Sweet Via get Luis as their brand ambassador? “Luis Manzano lives the ideal lifestyle that perfectly represents Sweet Via as he is enjoying a balanced life that is both active and healthy,” says Santé’s CEO Joey Marcelo. “We are honored to officially welcome Luis to the Santé family, and we look forward to the exciting projects that we’ll do with him in the months to come.”

As one of the most influential celebrities in the entertainment industry today, Luis is in the prime of his career with an extremely hectic schedule that consists of several thriving business ventures, multiple brand partnerships, and top-trending TV shows.

Alden Richards and his new soap, “The World Between Us,” will be replacing the hit GMA show, “First Yaya,” on July 5, right after “24 Oras.” He is paired with Jasmine Curtis Smith. Obviously, neither he nor GMA is scared that Alden and Maine Mendoza fans will boycott shows where he’s paired with other actresses.

“We’re not robots naman na susunod na lang sa bawat idikta ng fans, kasi part ng growth namin is to work with different co-stars,” says Alden. “I think the traditional view that you have to be paired only with your ka-love team, nabe-break na ‘yun and you also don’t have to be romantically linked on and off-cam to be effective as actors.”

The trailer of “The World Between Us” is now being shown and reception to the Alden-Jasmine tandem is very warm and favorable. Most people agree that they have good on-screen chemistry.

“I think the audience has really evolved,” Alden adds. “And kami naman ni Jas, we have this conscious effort that we, as actors portraying our roles, will make it very credible na our characters are really so in love with each other. But more than the actors, the audience should get hooked first with the story.”

Alden plays Louie Asuncion, a technology nerd who falls in love with Jasmine as Lia, who comes from the wealthy Libradilla family. Their love affair becomes a forbidden one because the orphaned Alden grew up as an “ampon” or adopted son of Lia’s family so they’re considered like brother and sister. This is under the direction of hit teleserye maker, Dominic Zapata, who reveals that the show’s basic story is inspired by the classic Emily Bronte novel, “Wuthering Heights.”

This is an epic love drama which has been filmed several times in Hollywood with different actors. The story has also been used in two local films before, “Hihintayin Kita sa Langit,” with Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta, and “The Promise” with Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin.

The first one was made by Reyna Films in 1991 or 30 years ago, as directed by Carlitos Siguió Reyna, while the second one was by GMA Films in 2007, directed by Mike Tuviera. And how is “The World Between Us” different from these past two movies?

“Ang kaibhan ng ‘The World Between Us’ is that this is the one for you in 2021,” says Direk Dominic. “Siempre, may contemporary flavor at lahat kaming connected with the project are passionate in our commitment to it. We’re all swooning over it and it’s a great collaborative effort. In other words, tama ang buong timpla nito, everything comes out perfectly together. The material is awesome and we are giving our darndest best to make sure viewers will want to watch every single episode of ‘The World Between Us’.”
