Showbiz will not be so colorful without the ups and downs in the love life of our stars. So let’s recall the breakups of 2022.
The year started with the retired but still talked about Kris Aquino breaking up with fiance ex-DILG Sec. Mel Sarmiento due to health reasons. She later denounced him for just using her. Kris got so sick and is still in the USA seeking treatment.
Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez were rumored to have broken up after only 3 months of being married. They later confirmed it and it was a bitter separation as they still do not talk to each other and Tom had to go to the USA to seek therapy.
Carlo Aquino and Trina Candaza, his non-showbiz girlfriend with whom he has a daughter, also parted ways. Carlo is now linked to Charlie Dizon.
Singers Moira de la Torre and Jason Hernandez also formally announced in June that they broke up after three years of marriage.
Jake Cuenca and beauty queen-actress Kylie Versoza also confessed that they broke up after three years of being together.

Heart Evangelista and Sen. Chiz Escudero are rumored to have separated, with Heart now living in Paris, but Heart came home and they were together on New Year’s eve.
The break up that really hit the headlines was hunk actor Kit Thompson beating up his girlfriend, upcoming sexy actress Anna Jalandoni, while they were staying in a hotel in Tagaytay in March. Cops came to rescue the battered girlfriend from Kit, who was arrested and imprisoned for a while. Anna was taken to the hospital and confined for a while. She vowed to sue Kit and make him pay in court, but the latest news is that they have already kissed and made up.

‘It seems that the positive word-of-mouth endorsements of satisfied viewers helped in beefing up the interest of the public to watch it.’

The Metro Manila Film Festival Awards night became controversial when the jurors chose to snub and ignore the heartwarming drama, “Family Matters,” which many writers and viewers believe deserves to win best picture.
First best pic is the horror movie, “Deleter” (which is not scary at all). Second best pic is “Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told,” the true story about the killing of 44 soldiers in a clandestine mission. It won many other awards that didn’t do it any good, as it remains to be a cellar-dweller at the box office .
The third best picture is the home invasion suspense-thriller, “Nanahimik ang Gabi.” It’s well crafted, but it also lacks power in pulling viewers to the ticket booths. What’s funny is that “Family Matters” continues to get a lot of support from moviegoers as it is now one of the three topgrossers. It seems that the positive word-of-mouth endorsements of satisfied viewers helped in beefing up the interest of the public to watch it.
