Widows, divorcées welcome to join Mrs. Philippines

Ms. Philippines 2023, the latest addition to the growing number of pageants intended for married women and single mothers, was officially launched last Friday at the Zenith Ballroom of Luxent Hotel in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

Simply called Mrs. Philippines, the annual search is proud to give importance to the light of our homes with its tag line: “The Most Honorable Pageant for Married Women.”

Present during the launch are Francisco “Gareth” Blanco, president and members of the board of directors Maria Gigi Cabatu, Ma. Fe Cañete Garchitorena and Peter Serano. Other members of the board are Ramon Paras Balunes, Jose Mari Gallardo and Imelda Potucas Balunes. The winners of the recently held Miss Teen International Philippines also graced the event.

Mrs. Philippines is an annual event that celebrates married women through a national competition. Organized by Mrs. Philippines Pageant Foundation, it aims to gather the most beautiful, talented and honorable married women, including divorced, separated and widowed ones.

The winners will represent the Philippines in various international pageants abroad, including Mrs. Tourism Global in Sri Lanka in August, Mrs. Global International in Malaysia and Mrs. Multinational in India.

The competition is open to Filipino women (born female) who have been married at one point in their lives. They must be between 25-55 years old, of good moral character, talented with pleasing personality and has good communications skills. There is no height requirement in this pageant.

Just like in any other pageants, candidates will present themselves in their evening wear, regional costume, business wear during the closed door interview, where they can showcase their talents. There will also be a one-piece swimwear round.

Candidates will also be asked to submit a 3 to 5-minute video to introduce themselves, present their hometown or province and show their advocacy and charity works.

The finals is scheduled to be staged at The Theater in Solaire on August 19. Proceeds from the pageant will go it its chosen beneficiary, Anawim Lay Mission Foundation, a small facility for poor and abandoned elderly people founded by Catholic preacher Bo Sanchez in Barangay San Isidro, Sitio Tanag, Rodriguez, Rizal; as well as a charitable institution in Zamboanga City.

“We at the Mrs. Philippines Pageant Foundation believe that married women should inspire the next generation. A woman’s true beauty isn’t just about looks but how she nurtures her family and community and how she can create a positive impact that would be carried by the next generation,” said board member Ma. Fe Cañete Garchitorena.
