STANDARD Chartered Bank (SCB) Philippines donated P12.5 million for COVID-19 relief efforts in the country. In partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), the bank’s donation is coursed through the fundraising platform of Bayanihan Musikahan, an online concert fundraiser led by National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab.
The bank’s donation will provide 10,000 food packs through Caritas Manila and Samahan ng NagkakaisangPamilya ng Pantawid (SNPP) benefiting the most vulnerable communities in Luzon.
First round of relief distribution started last weekend with the delivery of over 5,000 packs of vegetables from Benguet to the beneficiary families in Manila, Makati, Pasay, Quezon City, Navotas, Pasig, Taytay, Antipolo, San Mateo and San Isidro Rizal.
Other food items such as rice, canned goods, eggs, fresh chicken and fish will be distributed separately.
“We have a vital role to play in supporting our colleagues, clients and our communities. Our immediate goal is to deliver relief measures to support the most vulnerable. But we can’t lose sight of what lies ahead that’s why the Bank is also focused on how to support economic recovery and protect livelihoods across our markets after the pandemic,” Standard Chartered Bank’s Chief Executive Officer Lynette V. Ortiz said.
Aside from the food packs, the Standard Chartered will also provide more than 6,500 sets of reusable protective personal equipment (PPEs) to 20 hospitals and treatment centers in Luzon.
The beneficiary hospitals are Delos Santos Medical Center, Victor R. Potenciano Medical Center, San Juan De Dios Hospital, Medical Center Muntinlupa, Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center,Rizal Medical Center, Trinity Medical Center, San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital, Medical Center Taguig, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, United Doctors Medical Center, World Citi Medical Center, Medical Center Manila, Cruz-Rabe Hospital, Dr. Jose Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, Las Pinas General Hospital, San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital, RITM Muntinlupa, San Lazaro Hospital and UP-PGH.
The bank will also extend financial assistance to its non-employed workers who were impacted but remain committed to serve during the community quarantine.
