Green Core to energize Menarco Tower

Menarco Development Corp. tapped First Gen Corp. for the supply of 800 kilowatts of electricity to power the former’s 32-storey tower in Taguig City with renewable energy.

The two-year agreement will take effect later this month to utilize electricity from First Gen subsidiary, Green Core Geothermal Inc.’s (GCGI) geothermal power plant but did not specify the amount involved in the deal.

GCGI owns and operates two integrated geothermal power plants including the 112.5 megawatts (MW) Tongonan 1 in Leyte and the 192.5 MW Palinpinon in Negros Oriental.

“We are happy that our agreement with Menarco Development will complement Menarco Tower’s image as a very innovative, energy efficient, healthy, safe and hi-tech office boutique tower,” said Carlo Vega, First Gen’s vice president, in a statement. – Jed Macapagal
