Department of Finance (DOF) undersecretary Cielo Magno has stepped down from her post, as she has confirmed yesterday.
In a Viber message to Malaya Business Insight, Magno said she has tendered her resignation from the DOF effective September 16, 2023.
“I was grateful for the opportunity to serve the Filipino people, but I think the academe will give me the flexibility I need to advocate for good policies and speak truth to power,” Magno said.
Magno will be returning to the University of the Philippines’ School of Economics (UPSE), where she was associate professor prior to her stint at the DOF which began in August 2022.
In a public Facebook post, Magno said, “a wise man told me, if you do your job with integrity, you will be back in UPSE soon.”
