CIGNAL showed the door on United Auctioneers Inc.-Army, scoring a 25-23, 25-19, 25-19 victory yesterday in the PVL Reinforced Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
The HD Spikers, who had an almost two-week respite, dumped and kept the Lady Troopers winless, thanks to American import Tai Bierria who sizzled 17 points and 12 digs.
Skipper Rachel Anne Daquis and Ces Molina also fired 10 markers each as Cignal improved to 2-2 and rebounded from a 18-25, 25-22, 22-25, 12-25 loss to Creamline last Oct. 22.
Setter Gel Cayuna tossed 20 excellent sets, while libero Jheck Dionela had 12 digs and 11 excellent receptions for the HD Spikers.
The Lady Troopers, coming off a 25-22, 18-25, 27-25, 18-25, 12-15 defeat to Chery Tiggo eight days ago, fell to 0-5.
“Unang-una siyempre thank you kay Lord for another win dito sa team namin and iyong opportunity and chance namin na makabalik ulit doon sa lahat ng pinaghihirapan naming,” Cignal coach Shaq Delos Santos said. “Medyo magandang chance ulit and then hopefully iyon nga sabi namin mag-work hard pa kami every training, iyong practices namin, iyong inaaral namin and iyong commitment talaga namin ibibigay talaga namin.”
“Siyempre ibang-iba na iyong labanan ngayon, hindi ka talagang puwede magrelax, magpetiks sa mga makakalaban mo so iyon, very thankful and happy. Nakaka-proud kasi iyong mga players namin nagcommit talaga kanina na mag-perform ng maayos,” he added.
Canadian reinforcement Laura Condotta led Army with 13 points, while team captain Jovelyn Gonzaga added 10 kills.
