Rap sensations Nik Makino, Mayo Marte continue their musical journey with a listening party for their newest songs.

Makino, known for hits like “Neneng B” and “Moon,” introduced “Shot Puno,” “Solid,” and “Ngayong Gabi,” while Marte unveiled “Hindi Ko Na Kaya,” “Alak,” and “Alaala” with Believe Music Philippines.
Their musical union began through a digital connection, initiated by Makino via an Instagram message, blossoming into a collaboration and a friendship.
Social media is also where they thrive and reach out through their audience. Currently, Nik has close to 900,000 YouTube subscribers and enjoys sharing his life in his vlogs. He said what people see in the videos are who he really is in real life – true and without artifice.
“Sa content hindi ko talaga pinag-iisipan, [kasi] ako mismo yun,” he revealed, “That’s my life, I’m sharing it to you. Magustuhan mo, thank you. ‘Pag hindi, gagawa ako uli ng b`ago.
“Hindi ako mahilig mag-isip ng content. All natural, men, sa loob at labas ng social media, I’m the same,” he stressed.
Staying rooted in reality, Makino eschews the pressure of surpassing expectations, prioritizing self-enjoyment. He said that he does not pressure himself, whether it be on what to release for his vlogs or about his music.
“Tinanggal ko sa isip ko ‘yung sana mahigitan,” he confessed, “Right now in-enjoy ko lang sarili ko, dahil nangyari na yun [sa akin na inisip ko na] sana mahigitan, sobrang pressure, hindi ako makagawa [ng songs] kaya ngayon, ine-enjoy ko lang sarili ko. Magustuhan nila, magustuhan nila. ‘Yun na lang ginagawa ko.”
Marte, whose “Bahala Na” has close to 2.5 million views, draws inspiration from familiar experiences and stories for his latest tracks that tell a story of love.
“Major theme – kung maririnig mo from start to finish – ay start ng relationship tapos last ay break up at moving on,” he related, “Ang sound ay combination of alternative, rap and hiphop.
“It’s a romantic journey and is based on experiences of mga kakilala at sa akin din,” he added.
Both artists have clearly found their niche and enjoying their smooth-sailing hiphop journey.
