PCSO vows continued improvement in services

PHILIPPINE Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) chairman Junie E. Cua has committed to further improve its services to the Filipino people after the agency was commended by the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) for improving its 2002 Performance Scorecard targets.

“Kami sa PCSO ay hindi kuntento sa status quo (We are not satisfied with status quo). We strive for continued improvement para mas mapaglingkuran natin ang sambayanan (so we can serve the nation better),” Cua said.

During the PCSO’s 89th founding anniversary celebrations last October 27, GCG chairperson Marius P. Corpus highlighted the agency’s exceptional performance in the previous year.

“The PCSO was able to pay 100 percent of the mandatory contributions required by law to all recipient agencies and remit a total amount of P4.75 billion,” said Corpus, adding that the PCSO reported a validated Performance Scorecard rating of 92.03 percent in 2022, a huge increase from its previous 56.30 percent rating.

Corpus also lauded the PCSO leadership for “steady improvement” in the agency, which he credited to the “forward-looking leadership of chairperson Cua and general manager [Melquiades] Robles.”

Cua said he was humbled by the recognition as he acknowledged that the agency’s collective effort was responsible for their success.

“I am humbled by this recognition. Pero hindi natin makakamit ang mga ito kung wala ang lahat ng staff na pursigido sa paglingkod sa ating mga kababayan (We will not attain this achievement without the help of all the PCSO staff who are at the forefront of our public service),” said Cua.

Cua also thanked other government agencies and oversight bodies for “their invaluable support and the enabling environment which allows the PCSO to thrive.”
