A 20-year journey towards affordable healthcare

GENERIKA Drugstore celebrates 20th anniversary this September.

It all started with a vision of providing quality and affordable generic medicines to people who struggle with the rising cost of medicines.

Today, with over 700 stores nationwide, Generika Drugstore aims to reach 1,000 by 2025 with the support of the Ayala Healthcare (AC Health) Group which acquired a stake in the company in 2015.

As the company’s co-founder and chairman of the board, Teodoro Ferrer said it is a realization of a dream, and he is grateful for the opportunity to be their healthcare partner for 20 years.

For Atty. Yet Abarca, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Generika Drugstore, the company’s mission to deliver relief or “ginhawa” by making quality, affordable medicines, and healthcare essentials accessible to customers, continues to drive the company’s growth.

Through their “Libreng Konsulta” program with partner doctors and other plus services across their store network, Generika Drugstore has helped reduce customers’ out-of-pocket spending for medicines and empowered communities to take better care of their health.

Looking ahead, Ferrer is confident Generika Drugstore will continue to create a positive impact, especially with the support of AC Health.

AC Health President and CEO Paolo Borromeo, acknowledged the critical role of integration as a key strategy for AC Health, and Generika Drugstore’s pivotal role in the group’s ecosystem as it endeavors to broaden access to essential medicines.

He added they believe through their collective efforts, they can create a healthcare landscape where every Filipino has equitable access to the medicines and healthcare they need.

As for what people can expect from Generika Drugstore past its 20 years, Abarca said their passion and commitment to their founding vision remain as strong as ever, and they are inspired to do more.
