AHEAD of the observance of All Souls Day, the Manila Cathedral yesterday opened one of its chapels for the faithful who want to offer Masses and light candles for their departed loved ones.
In a social media post, the Manila Cathedral said it is opening its Blessed Souls Chapel from October 15 to November 9 to the faithful who want to pray for the dead.
“The Blessed Souls Chapel inside the Manila Cathedral will be open to the public, who may want to offer Mass intentions and light votive candles for the souls of the faithful departed,” said the Manila Cathedral.
It said the Chapel inside the Manila Cathedral will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All Souls’ Day is observed every November 2 in the Philippines.
During All Souls’ Day, Filipinos traditionally go to cemeteries to visit the graves of deceased relatives and friends, clean the tombs, light up candles, offer flowers, and say a prayer for the souls of the departed.
Those who are unable to go usually opt to go to the church to light candles and offer special masses for their dead relatives.
