THE Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) yesterday expressed support to the proposal of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to annul the entire list of registered voters after the May 2025 polls.
In an interview, PPCRV national coordinator Arwin Serrano said they agree with Comelec chairman George Garcia that there is already a need to have a new national list of voters.
“I think that that proposal is okay. The proposal has a good end goal,” said Serrano, adding it would be better if the list of voters start from scratch.
“There could be a semblance of truth there that our validation process is no longer that clear and reliable,” said Serrano.
He said they are also echoing the appeal of Garcia for Congress to pass a law calling for a general registration.
“If there is an enabling law, it will be more accepted by the people,” said Serrano.
Last Tuesday, Garcia said the Comelec is looking to have the entire list of registered voters annulled after the May 2025 midterm polls.
