THE Manila Chooks! 3×3 squad is keeping its heads high with pride as it continues its quest for glory.
The team fell short in the Chooks-to-Go FIBA 3×3 World Tour Manila Masters last weekend, but head trainer Chico Lanete remained proud of the heart and passion his wards showed.
“Proud ako doon sa naging result sa second game kahit natalo tayo pero nakita naman natin iyong effort ng mga players na nag-bounce back talaga,” Lanete said. “Kahit paano nakapag-bigay sila ng magandang laban.”
Composed of Mac Tallo, Dennis Santos, Paul Desiderio and Tosh Sesay, Manila Chooks! succumbed to top-ranked Ub Huishan NE of Serbia 9-21, then suffered another heartbreak at the hands Japan’s Utsunomiya Brex Exe in 18-21.
Lanete saw a silver lining in the team’s campaign in the FIBA level 10 tournament.
“Sana ma-maintain lang namin iyong intensity ng laro, katulad na maging consistent lang like kasi noong first game, hindi tayo nakapag-good start agad so iyon ang sabi ko sa mga players na hindi tayo puwedeng lagi sa second game mag-good start,” Lanete said. “First game pa lang, dapat buhos na natin para pagdating natin (sa susunod), iyong confidence natin sa laro ay tuloy-tuloy.
