Derailed P796-million projects, mostly in infrastructure, of the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO) will be given a fresh start by the administration through rebidding.
President Marcos at the distribution of assistance to farmers and fisherfolk in Baler, Aurora on Friday also announced other key infrastructure projects in the province.
The President said APECO is bent on finishing these projects which were 80 percent complete when halted due to problems with contracts.
The President said APECO president and CEO Gil Taway IV intends to rebid the contracts to allow the completion of the undertakings.
APECO announced it aims to entice investments in the agro-industrial, energy, and defense sectors.
Marcos said the Dingalan—Baler Road Project, costing over P4 billion is halfway its construction. This will directly link the two renowned towns of Aurora to expedite the flow of goods, transportation, and tourism in the area.
Marcos said the government is also drafting plans for the Baler Airport Development Project.
“ This is crucial to accommodate larger aircraft and increase passenger capacity it can serve. Just this June, the CAAP finalized the land purchases necessary for this, and funds are scheduled to be released to the landowners this August to commence construction,” the President said.
Following this, the construction of the Passenger Terminal Building will be the government’s next focus.
